PFF

Ehime University (March 24, 2025)
We visited the Institute for Education and Student Support Office for Education Planning and Research, and held a meeting with Lecturer Shota Kozuki. During the visit, we presented the findings of our PFF (Preparing Future Faculty) program survey conducted at Japanese universities, as well as our implementation plans for the program at Science Tokyo. Lecturer Kozuki shared valuable insights on the design and operation of PFF programs. He also raised questions regarding the implementation of PFF initiatives at mid-sized universities, which led to a productive discussion on institutional approaches and the sustainability of such programs.

Kobe University (March 26, 2025)
We visited the Center for Higher Education Studies at the Institute for Promotion of Higher Education. There, we met with Professor Yasuyoshi Yokokohji (Director), Professor Masahiro Chikada (Deputy Director), Associate Professor Koichi Kuzuki, and Associate Professor Makiko Oyama. We provided an overview of the mission and major activities of CITL after the university merger. Professor Chikada and Associate Professor Oyama offered detailed explanations of Kobe University’s PFF initiatives and their collaboration with nearby universities to offer educational internships for graduate students.

Hiroshima University (March 27, 2025)
We met with Professor Yasushi Maruyama, Dean of the School of Education and the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and received an overview of how “Preparing Future Faculty Program” in Hiroshima University is organized and administered. Specially Appointed Expert Satoshi Kadomatsu and Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Takuya Asayama from CITL presented the findings of our survey on PFF programs in Japan. Then, we engaged in a constructive exchange of ideas with Professor Maruyama on how to design and implement PFF programs tailored to the needs of science and engineering disciplines.
