On Saturday, May 24, 2025, Professors Yukari Kato and Yukihiko Yamashita gave a joint presentation at the 2025 First Study Group of the Japan Society for Educational Technology (JSET), held at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. The meeting was held under the theme “Teacher Education and Higher Education / General Topics.”

Kato and Yamashita’s presentation, entitled “Preparing Future Faculty Program Operations at Leading U.S. Research Universities: Insights from Teaching and Learning Center Visits”, shared insights gained from field visits to prominent teaching and learning centers at leading U.S. research universities.

In the afternoon session (14:50–16:30), Professor Kato also served as session chair alongside Associate Professor Kouki Sato from Nagoya University.

The meeting featured active discussions on how to integrate essential teaching competencies — such as the use of ICT, learning environment design, and instruction for diverse learners — into faculty development (FD), pre-faculty development (pre-FD), and staff development (SD) programs in higher education.
